Why the Nervous System Matters for Mom’s & Children’s Health

Our Philosophy

The nervous system is the body’s communication network. From digestion and sleep to movement, emotional resilience, and childhood development, it’s constantly interpreting signals and helping the body adapt to the world around it.

Families often come to us when they notice:
• Sensory sensitivities
• A harder time with transitions
• Frequent headaches or ongoing aches and pains
• Trouble sleeping
• Feeling stressed or on edge
• A harder time focusing
• A sense that development feels “off”
• Fussiness or digestive discomfort
• Big emotions that are hard to calm

Our goal is to support a calmer, more regulated nervous system — helping the body:

• Rest and recover
• Adapt to stress
• Move with greater ease
• Navigate the changes of pregnancy and childhood development

Some of these concerns are also worth discussing with your pediatrician, OB, or a counselor — we’re glad to work alongside them.

Therapies That Support Nervous System Regulation

Chiropractic is the backbone to nervous system support at The Chiropractic Place for Mommy & Me. Pediatric; prenatal and family chiropractic adjustments help the communication between the brain and body by restoring motion and balance within the spine and nervous system. For pregnant mothers, babies, and children, these adjustments are gentle and tailored to the body’s stage of development.

Depending on what each patient’s body needs, our doctors may add complementary therapies to support their care. These therapies are carefully selected to enhance chiropractic care and support the body’s natural ability to adapt to the demands of life, physically, chemically, emotionally, & spiritually.

CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy is an extremely gentle therapy that focuses on releasing tension patterns within the head, spine, and nervous system.

This therapy is commonly used with newborns, infants, and children, and many families choose it to support comfort, feeding, and overall nervous system balance.

Neuro- Emotional Technique

NET, offered by Dr. Jessica, explores how emotional experiences may be connected to physical tension patterns in the body. By addressing the link between the brain, nervous system, and stress responses, it’s designed to encourage greater balance and resilience.

Vagus Nerve Support

The vagus nerve plays an important role in regulating the body’s stress response, digestion, heart rate, and overall nervous system balance.

Low-level laser therapy, muscle stim pod or Rezzimax can be used to gently stimulate the vagus nerve and encourage the body to shift into a more relaxed state.

This therapy is often used alongside chiropractic adjustments as part of supporting nervous system regulation with any of our 4 doctors.

Injury Recall Technique

IRT, offered by Dr. Leslie, is designed to address protective patterns the nervous system may hold onto after past injuries — even ones that appear healed — that can affect movement or comfort.

Dry needling therapy performed on a patient's lower back.

Dry Needling

Dry needling focuses on releasing tight or irritated muscle tissue by gently stimulating specific trigger points within the muscle.

By reducing muscle tension, this technique may help support improved movement and comfort while complementing chiropractic care. Dr. Leslie and Dr. Michelle Parker are certified in dry needling.

Nutrition Muscle Testing

Nutrition muscle testing is a hands-on assessment Dr. Kayla uses, along with your health history, to guide conversations about nutrition, environment, and lifestyle choices that support your family’s overall wellness. Visits are available for both children and adults.

It is not a diagnostic test and does not replace lab testing. If your history or concerns suggest lab work would be helpful, we can order appropriate testing right here in our office.

Supporting Children with Sensory & Stress Challenges

Some children may experience heightened sensitivity to sounds, light, textures, movement, or stimulation. This can leave parents overwhelmed and children frustrated not being understood. Because the nervous system processes sensory information, many parents seek chiropractic care at The Chiropractic Place for Mommy and Me due to our focus on helping the nervous system function in a regulated way.

Children experience stress just like adults do, and their nervous system plays an important role in how they respond and adapt. Our goal is to support each child’s nervous system so they can feel more at ease and better able to adapt.

Our approach here in Aledo, Texas is to gently support communication between the brain and body so children can better adapt to the world around them whether at home or school (homeschool, private and public).

No matter your child’s stage—baby, toddler, elementary-aged, or teenager—if you are searching for natural ways to support your child’s nervous system and a team willing to partner with you in your child’s health journey, we would be honored to walk alongside you.
