Gentle Chiropractic Care Before & After Tongue and Lip Tie Releases in Aledo, Texas

Because when it comes to your baby, we believe in looking at the whole picture.

Feeding your baby is meant to be a special time of connection, but sometimes the journey looks a little different than you imagined.

Maybe your baby is struggling to latch onto the breast or bottle, prefers turning their head to one side, or seems uncomfortable during feeding. Perhaps you've already met with a lactation consultant or pediatrician and learned that your baby may need a lip or tongue tie release.

Wherever you are in that journey, you don't have to navigate it alone.

At The Chiropractic Place for Mommy & Me in Aledo, Texas, we provide gentle, individualized pediatric chiropractic care for families seeking additional support before or after a tongue or lip tie release.

Our approach looks beyond one area of the body to consider your baby's head, neck, jaw, movement, and development, while working alongside the healthcare professionals already caring for your little one.

Looking Beyond the Tongue Tie

Babies are fearfully & wonderfully designed little humans! Their bodies are growing, developing, and learning new things every day.

When feeding challenges arise (whether during breastfeeding or bottle feeding), there can be more to consider than what is happening underneath the tongue. Other names for tongue tie may be ankyloglossia or tethered oral tissues.

During our visits, we may evaluate:

  • Head and neck movement: Does your baby comfortably turn their head in both directions? What do the head shape and sutures feel like?

  • Jaw movement and surrounding muscles: Are there noticeable movement differences or areas of tenderness? Does your baby suck-swallow-breathe with a rhythmic flow, or does it look chompy or disorganized?

  • Positioning preferences: Does your baby consistently favor one side while resting or feeding?

  • Overall movement and development: How is your baby moving, positioning, and responding to their environment? Are their primitive reflexes fully turned on?

We believe every baby deserves an individualized evaluation rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

And while some families visit us specifically around a tongue tie release, others come because they simply want another set of experienced eyes evaluating their little one.

Should My Baby See a Chiropractor Before a Lip or Tongue Tie Release?

We often meet families who are preparing for their newborn or infant’s release and wondering whether a pediatric chiropractic visit would be helpful.

Our first priority is understanding your baby, not simply adding another appointment to your calendar.

We'll take time to learn about your pregnancy, birth experience, feeding journey, and any concerns you've noticed. From there, your pediatric chiropractor will evaluate your baby's movement and musculoskeletal function and discuss whether chiropractic care is appropriate.

A chiropractic visit is not required before a tongue tie release, but it may be suggested by your pediatrician, lactation consultant or pediatric dentist. The American Academy of Pediatrics encourages a collaborative, team approach to supporting breastfeeding families. (1) Some families also choose craniosacral or myofascial therapies alongside a release. The AAP’s 2024 clinical report notes these haven’t been shown to change release outcomes (2), so we’ll always be honest with you about what our care can and can’t do. Gentle craniosacral and myofascial techniques may be part of your baby’s pediatric chiropractic visit.

Our heart is to help you feel informed and supported as you make decisions for your baby.

What About Chiropractic Care After a Release?

A tongue tie release is only one part of a baby's feeding journey. Families may still have questions about latch, feeding, positioning, and their baby's comfort afterward.

If your baby has recently had a release, our doctors can evaluate their head, neck, jaw & body movement and any musculoskeletal concerns you may have noticed.

Your baby's release provider remains the one to discuss procedure-related care and healing instructions, while your lactation consultant can help address ongoing feeding concerns.

We love collaborating with other providers because caring for babies should be a team effort.

Who Do You Work Alongside?

Here at The Chiropractic Place for Mommy & Me, we often work alongside local tongue and lip tie release providers located out of Aledo, Weatherford, Fort Worth, Dallas and Southlake. We’re happy to coordinate with your baby’s provider, whoever you choose.

What Does Gentle Pediatric Chiropractic Care Look Like?

If you've never watched a baby receive a chiropractic adjustment, you may be surprised by just how gentle it is!

At The Chiropractic Place for Mommy & Me, our pediatric chiropractic visits are tailored to your baby's age (from newborn, infant, baby to child), development, examination findings, and individual needs.

Your baby's first appointment includes a thorough health history and gentle examination. When clinically appropriate, pediatric chiropractic adjustments use light, controlled fingertip pressure, rather than the forceful movements many adults associate with chiropractic care. It is no more pressure than what you would put on an avocado to see if it is ripe.

Gentle craniosacral techniques may also be incorporated when your doctor determines they are appropriate.

And don't worry, Momma! You're welcome to stay right beside your baby throughout the entire visit.

We want you to understand what we're doing, why we're doing it, and what we're evaluating along the way.

Pediatric Chiropractic Care Meets Lactation Experience

One of the things that makes our practice special is our understanding of both pediatric chiropractic care and the feeding journey.

Our founder, Dr. Michelle Parker, DC, DACCP, IBCLC, FIBFN-CND, has advanced pediatric chiropractic training and is also an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant.

This background brings an additional perspective to conversations about infant feeding, development, and the concerns families may experience surrounding tongue ties. Dr. Parker works collaboratively with the entire provider staff at The Chiropractic Place for Mommy & Me. All of our Doctors of Chiropractic and Massage Therapist discuss cases and treatment strategies for our families.

Our pediatric-trained chiropractic team shares a commitment to gentle, individualized care and collaborating with the providers supporting your baby's feeding journey.

Pediatric Chiropractic or CranioSacral Therapy: Which Should I Schedule?

We offer two different appointment options for families interested in gentle, hands-on care.

First Pediatric Chiropractic Visit: $150

30-minute appointment

A full birth, feeding and health history and a gentle evaluation, plus an adjustment if appropriate.

Follow-Up Pediatric Chiropractic Visit: $60

10-minute appointment

Your chiropractor evaluates and addresses appropriate musculoskeletal findings integrating gentle pediatric chiropractic techniques, craniosacral, and myofascial release.

CranioSacral Therapy with Rachel, LMT — $60

30-minute appointment

When more extensive craniosacral therapy needs arise, our Doctors of Chiropractic will suggest concentrated sessions of CranioSacral therapy (CST), a gentle manual therapy session focused on soft-touch techniques.

These approaches are different services, and neither is a required part of tongue tie treatment or release recovery. Research has not established that either improves tongue tie release outcomes.

Not sure which appointment is right for your baby? Give our team a call or text at 817-441-1921. We'd love to learn a little about your situation and help you understand your options.

A Few Important Things We Want Parents to Know

Not every feeding challenge is caused by a tongue tie, and not every tongue tie requires a release.

If your baby has a fever, isn’t feeding or gaining weight well, is vomiting forcefully, or just seems unwell, please call your pediatrician or midwife first. We’re glad to work alongside them.

Our care is intended to complement your baby's medical and feeding care, never replace it.

Tongue & Lip Tie Care: Common Questions

Many parents bring their newborn in within the first two weeks after birth. Every newborn visit is gentle and starts with a full birth and health history, and a parent stays with their baby the entire time.

How soon can my newborn be seen?

1

Our doctors use gentle techniques adjusted to each baby’s age and size: light fingertip pressure, about what you’d use to check if an avocado is ripe. If we find that chiropractic care isn’t the right fit, we’ll tell you and help you find the right next step. Learn more about ➡️ Pediatric Chiropractic Care

Is chiropractic care safe for babies?

Yes. All four of our Doctors of Chiropractic are pediatric-trained, and same-week appointments are often available.

Can my baby see any of your doctors?

We don’t bill insurance directly. You pay at your visit and receive a superbill to submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. We accept HSA, FSA, credit, debit and cash.
