Breastfeeding, Food Allergies, Sensitivities and Baby’s Skin

"Is what I am eating while breastfeeding or pumping causing my baby's skin to have eczema or breakout?”

Eczema in babies can sometimes be linked to sensitivities—not to anything mom is doing wrong, but to how a baby’s developing immune system reacts to certain proteins that can come through breast milk. Every baby is different, and some are just more sensitive to things like dairy, soy, wheat or eggs. This doesn’t mean breastfeeding is harmful or needs to be paused in most situations.  It just means that, for some babies, adjusting mom’s diet a bit can help soothe their skin and support healing.

As mentioned above, eczema and reflux can be a signal of potential nervous system stress. Focusing on the calming the system into more of a parasympathetic (rest and digest) can help with baby's overall health.
